Personnel:
Thomas Sant FGS CGeol EurGeol FSEG2005
Having gained a BSc in Applied Geology from the University of Leicester in the mid 90s, Tom banged rocks around the world including eight years with Rio Tinto followed by six years in Mongolia with Robert Friedland’s Ivanhoe Mines during the period of the Oyu Tolgoi discovery. A diversion to seafloor exploration with Nautilus Minerals, working on the geology and resource drilling of the Solwara 1 seafloor massive sulphide deposit, provided a near real-time view of the formation of a gold-rich VMS. Returning to dry land, Tom joined Eldorado Gold as their generative exploration lead in Türkiye followed by several years as Eldorado’s exploration manager for Greece.
Returning to the UK in 2016 Tom established Exploration Direction Limited to provide generative and discovery focused exploration services.
Tom is a fellow (FGS)of the Geological Society of London, a UK chartered geologist (CGeol), a registered European geologist (EurGeol), a fellow (FSEG2005) of the Society of Economic Geologists, a member of the Society for Geology Applied to Mineral Deposits, a core PDAC member, and a member of the International Association on the Genesis of Ore Deposits.
